Mr. Yasser bin Homran, conference sponsor and Middle East peace campaigner, spoke from the heart of his personal commitment to contributing to building peace in the Middle East region: "I don't represent any organisation or political party: I just love peace and want to build a better future for the new generation. What is Peace? It is the absence of war, the absence of killing to win, to achieve power." People everywhere wanted to live happily together without war, in a state of peace - that was the universal desire. The nations of the world should have learned from the terrible losses of the two world wars of the 20th-century, never to go to war again. "Peace is achievable - let us belong to those who say that! Let us always ask ourselves: what have we done to avert war? It is time to pledge ourselves for peace - that would be humanity's greatest achievement."

Mr.Homran, who sponsors a Peace Studies Chair at Bradford University, emphasised the importance of education for peace: "we must guide the new generation to peace, and cultivate a sense of responsibility against war." Unspeakable war crimes were being committed today, contrary to the teachings of all religions and against all humanity: it was time for peacemakers to become a powerful international movement. "Together, let us bring Peace back!"
